Default My Barrage Ranger Build

Now I know they're the Splinter Barrage build, but I only have Prophecies. So anyhow...

Here's two I thought of.

Expertise - 8+1
Marksmanship - 11+1+1
Lightning Magic - 9
Wilderness Survival - 8+1

Barrage {E}
Distracting Shot
Conjure Lightning
Lightning Reflexes
Whirling Defense
Dryder's Defenses
Troll Unguent
Antidote Signet/Resurrection Signet

Basically, I use Conjure Lightning for quite the extra damage (+13 or +14 or something). I picked Lightning because in most places in the campaign the monsters are either strong against cold damage and weak against fire damage, or weak against cold damage and strong against fire damage. There's never anything that's strong or weak against lightning damage. But I can get both Conjure Frost and Conjure Flame and pick one depending on what I'm going to kill.

Here's the second one.

Expertise - 8+1
Marksmanship - 10+1+1
Smiting Prayers - 9
Healing Prayers - 8

Barrage {E}
Judge's Insight
Lightning Reflexes
Whirling Defense
Healing Breeze/some other heal
Vigorous Spirit
Restore Life/Antidote Signet
Live Vicariously

Are either one of these good? Again, I only have Prophecies, so these were the only ones I thought of. There is another R/W one, I think, with really good energy management.

Expertise - 11+1+1
Marksmanship - 10+1
Tactics - 10

Barrage {E}
Distracting Shot
Lightning Reflexes
Whirling Defense
"Watch Yourself!"
"Fear Me!"
Healing Signet
Antidote Signet/Resurrection Signet

EDIT: The second one is for holy damage vs. undead and 20% armor penetration vs. anything else.

You don't need so many blocking stances... one is usually enough, considering Rangers are backliners with high armor, and thus rarely get targeted by mob AI. I'd keep Lightning Reflexes. Maybe take [Throw Dirt]

[Savage Shot][Distracting Shot] should pretty much be on any Ranger bar. [Concussion Shot] can replace Savage Shot if needed.

You don't need a self heal in PvE.

"Fear Me!" requires you to get into melee range, which is bad. Also e-denial doesn't exactly work in PvE. Take ["Shield's Up!"] or something.

I had the same thought for your monk build when I first started, and let me save you some time and money. It's not as good as it seems in your head. Very energy intensive for mediocre damage. You probably won't need a heal. As Maverick said, Rangers are rarely targeted, and when you are if your monks can't do the job, then [[vigorous spirit] won't help.

For the first one, drop [[dryder's defenses] and [[troll unguent]; its a waste of attribute points and a rune slot.

Otherwise, have fun. [[Barrage] is a very fun elite to play with, especially in proph, and if you find yourself enjoying the game, consider buying factions which will open up the best builds for you.

p.s. staple [[distracting shot] to your bar
p.s.s [[healing breeze] is not as good as it looks. I would highly advise you to drop it. Chunk heals are much better than regen.

Remember the expertise pyramid though.
Here is the wiki, worth a bookmark: Expertise on Wiki

I would rather go 13 expertise if I plan to spam 5 energy skills since that is the next breakpoint.

Have fun playing around with your build
